Announcements – April 2014

Information regarding academic compensation

Academic salary adjustment: Faculty and other non-represented academic personnel will receive a 3% increase effective July 1, 2014 (reflected on the August 1, 2014 paycheck). More information regarding the implementation schedule will be sent later this spring. Faculty review actions (new hires, merits, promotions, etc.) and summer salary should be entered in PPS at the new 7/1/14 pay rates. Those already entered based on the 7/1/13 pay scale (excluding HSCP) will be adjusted automatically. Here is a link to the campus notice, which also links to the new scales on the Academic Personnel Services website: http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2014/2014-3-24-1.html

General Campus Compensation Plan (GCCP) Request Form: Based on feedback APS has received, the "Current" compensation line on the form should note the faculty member?s status as of 6/30/14. This will allow reviewers to clearly see the difference between compensation earned in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

HHMI and Ludwig faculty: In addition to their professorial appointments, faculty who are HHMI or Ludwig Investigators must have appointments in PPS under the appropriate HHMI (1969) or Ludwig (1970) title code, as well as a Without Salary (WOS) distribution on a 00000A fund. For General Campus faculty and Health Sciences faculty who are not members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the regular professorial appointment should have an RPX distribution showing the UCSD faculty salary rate. For faculty who are members of the HSCP, the appropriate records-purposes DOS codes for the HSCP should be used to show the UCSD HSCP salary components. Also, both HHMI and Ludwig Investigators must be placed on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) in PPS for the duration of their HHMI or Ludwig appointments. This is an IRS requirement to ensure that HHMI and Ludwig maintain their tax exempt status; it is not intended to mean the individual is not in service to the University.

Unit 18 lump-sum payment: In accordance with Article 21 of the Non-Senate Instructional Unit contract, eligible represented employees received a one-time, 3.5% lump-sum payment based on actual base-pay earnings (excluding Summer Session appointments) for the period July 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. Payment was issued on April 1. Affected employees have been notified.
