Professor (Ladder-Rank) Series

Appointment is normally for full-time service to the University, although there may subsequently be a temporary reduction in the percentage of time of the appointment by agreement between the candidate and the University.

An appointment for less than full-time service in a title in this series may be authorized under appropriate circumstances, provided that the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs approves the arrangement as being in the best interests of the University and fully justified by the particular circumstances. The Dean's office should be consulted when considering a part-time appointment to this series.

In Residence Series

An appointee holding a title in this series must either be a full-time academic employee of the University, with 100% of the employment allocated among one or more appointments to academic titles, or the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs must certify that the appointee's sole professional commitment is to the University. The Dean's office should be consulted when considering a part-time appointment to this series.

Adjunct Series

Appointments may be salaried or non-salaried and may be made or modified at any percentage.

Non-Salaried Adjunct faculty who are being asked to perform a specific paid duty (usually teaching) for a short period of time may be temporarily placed on salaried status. Procedures for placing Non-Salaried Adjunct faculty onto salaried status are currently being revised and will be posted on this website when they are finalized. In the interim, contact Dean's Office staff for individual guidance.
