Excellence Searches

Definition of an Excellence Search

All faculty searches seek to hire exceptional individuals with potential for or past demonstration of excellence in research, teaching and service.  The goal of the Excellence search is to also successfully recruit exceptional faculty who demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the diversity of our faculty as well as future generations of engineers.  This type of search adds to the criteria of the position element of demonstrated or potential for equity, diversity, and inclusion activities both in their past positions and in their future position here at the University. The fact that his is required is what differentiates and excellence search from other searches.  However, departments are welcome and encourage to include EDI activities as part of their search parameters.

Below is suggested language for both an Excellence search and search that considers EDI activities but does not require them.
