Dear Deans and Department Chairs (General Campus & SIO),
I write to inform you of the upcoming campus announcement to our faculty about a new multi-campus initiative, the UC Outside Activity Tracking System (UC OATS), that will be launched to track APM 025 and APM 671 Conflict of Commitment activities effective September 3, 2019, replacing the current paper process.
- Some advantages of UC OATS include:
- A comprehensive, user-friendly solution for faculty and administrators to comply with the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP) Conflict of Commitment policies*
- A dedicated programing team to ensure the OATS system is continuously expanded and enhanced to meet the needs of UC San Diego and our partner campuses: Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco.
- The oversight and guidance of two committees:
- UC OATS Governance Board - Assistant Vice Chancellor Cynthia Palmer and Associate Dean Evelyn Hidalgo are our campus representatives.
- OATS Working Group ? comprised of subject matter experts, including UC San Diego representatives to guide technical and campus-specific requirements for the software development team.
- An experience software development and implementation team from the UCLA DGSOM Digital Technology (DGIT) Office
- Additional information, including an introductory video and answers to frequently asked questions on the UCSD OATS website: https://aps.ucsd.edu/tools/index.html
All 2018-2019 disclosures for Category I and II Outside Activities and prior approval requests for Category I Outside Activities will be required to be submitted via UC OATS. In addition, campus training sessions for faculty, staff and administrative reviewers and approvers will be announced soon. I will also provide you with periodic updates as we achieve implementation milestones.
In the meantime, if you have specific questions or feedback, please contact Cynthia Palmer at c5palmer@ucsd.edu.
